Ben and I had dinner tonight at Alfie’s Inn in Glen Ellyn. We heard they had the best burgers around. Honestly, we didn’t have our hopes up because how many times do you hear that someone has the best burger? They all can’t have the best burger. But, now that we had a taste of Alfie’s, we truly might have found the best.
When I say “best”, I mean best in overall aspects. I’m looking at price, environment, freshness, and taste. The environment of Alfie’s Inn is just what the name of this place may sound like to you. It’s just your run of the mill cozy dining experience. The lighting is dark, but warm. My only complaint is the tables are pretty close together, so you feel like your sharing your meal with complete strangers. However, the good side of that is I saw strangers talking to each other and grabbing advice of what to order…like they’ve known each other for years. I really did feel like I was in a small town setting once again.
Ben ordered the Blue Cheese burger while I ordered a Mushroom Swiss burger. We were both very pleased as our order came out very quickly, with a side of fries. The fries weren’t amazing, but what was lacking in the fries was definitely made up in the taste and freshness of the burger! I’m not one to rave on and on about burgers…they’re just not my favorite type of food…but I could go on about this one. Of course, I won’t though because I’d probably lose you all by the next paragraph anyway!
If you live near Glen Elyn, then stop by Alfie’s Inn on Roosevelt. With hamburger basket prices as low as $5.50, you can keep dining out even when you have kids!! This place is very affordable!
