Simon 11 Months

Can you believe Simon is almost one year old!?  He turned 11 months on March 17th, and now we are just a couple of weeks away from his first birthday!

Simon 9 Months

Here he is at 9 months (since I haven’t done an update since he turned 8 months old).

Simon 10 Months

And, 10 months.

Still no teeth!  What the what!?!?  But, he eats like a champ.  I give him whatever we’re having, just cut into little itty bitty bite sized pieces.  Yesterday, he inhaled his dinner and I couldn’t keep up.  I’m getting glimpses of what having two boys to feed is looking like!  This mama’s gotta get her game on!

Simon 11 Month CollageSimon seems to be stuck at the stage where he just cruises around and stands without holding anything, but not a step yet!  He’s been at this stage for MONTHS, people!  Because he’s been cruising (walking while holding something) forever, I thought for sure he’d be walking by now.  But, nope!  He tries!  When he concentrates on taking a step, he jumps instead so it just knocks him right over! ha!  That’s okay, though.  I’ll never encourage my kids to grow up too quickly… 😉

Simon 11 Months

He gets into everything.  I am holding off on baby-proofing my cabinets and drawers, but I’m getting to the point of giving in.  He loves to open every cupboard door and throw anything that’s inside. He also likes to hang on my legs while I’m trying to cook, so it’s a bit frustrating and hard to get much done.  Ben reminded me that I had a hard time when Judah was this age… and now it’s quickly coming back to me again!  Gah!

Simon 11 Months-2

As frustrating and clingy as he is, I am still super in love with this smiley baby.  He continues to be sweet, and is still infatuated with his big brother.  They play together more than ever… yet Simon is really good at playing by himself, too.

We stopped bottles two days ago, and the transition was a piece of cake.  I’m so glad to not wash bottle anymore!  But, meal times are super messy now, so it’s a trade-off.

Simon 9 Months

Still two naps – one in the morning for 1-2 hours and one in the afternoon for about 2 hours.  Bedtime is 7:00PM and wake up time is anywhere from 6:30AM to 7:30AM.

Less than 3 weeks until Simon turns one!  We’re doing a small celebration while my parents are visiting.  Follow me along on Instagram where I’m sure I’ll post photos.  🙂

  1. what a pumpkin!

  2. Angie S. says:

He certainly is a cutie! My youngest son got his first tooth on his first birthday, Simon’s got plenty of time yet!

    • Nikki Gladd says:

Thanks, Angie! Judah was 11 or 12 months when he got his first two teeth, and then no more until 17 months… so I’m definitely trying not to wait too impatiently! haha! Plus, I’ve heard that the later they get teeth, the healthier the teeth are when they’re older. Clinging on to that “fact”!! 🙂

  3. So cute! And same birthday as my son 🙂 Evan turns 2 on the 17th.

  4. Hi! This is the first time I am viewing your blog and I also started following you on Instagram! Simon is so precious! I have an 11 month old named Carson who will be turning 1 on April 22nd. I love to read about Simon and how he develops and learns new things, since Carson is the same age. Carson just started “army crawling”, and rocks back and forth on his knees, but not interested in crawling on his knees. He also is not interested in pulling himself up or standing, so I have been trying to work with him on that. It just amazes me how all babies develop differently. I know you said Simon does not have teeth yet and Carson already has 3 with another one coming in. I know you said you give Simon some table foods, but I am so nervous to give any to Carson. He still eats pureed foods, but I also give him puffs, cut up bananas and avocado and he LOVES to use his fingers to eat! Since I am a first time mom, do you have any tips for me?
Thank you so much! You have a beautiful family! 🙂

    • Nikki Gladd says:

Hi Dawn! It is very fascinating to me how all babies develop at different times. As a second time mom, I definitely am a bit more relaxed with Simon. My biggest tip for you is just follow your gut. You know your child the best. If you’re comfortable with it, go ahead and start giving him the food that you eat at meal times, just cut into very small pieces. Avoid the foods that babies are not supposed to have, such as nuts, honey, etc. etc. and make sure to cut grapes and hot dogs VERY small, or just peel off the skin.

Simon also loves those squeeze pouches of pureed foods. He sucks on them like a sippy cup or bottle and still trying to grasp the concept of actually SQUEEZING the pouch to get the food out. 🙂

And, don’t worry that Carson is not yet pulling himself up… he’ll get there on his own time! My niece didn’t crawl or walk until she was 18 months old and she’s almost 4 now and running all over the place! 🙂 Feel free to email me anytime.

  5. Been reading your blog for a while but never commented. Love it! What a wonderful baby and cute too! Encourage Simon to crawl for a bit yet. There is research that shows a child’s crawling as an infant and toddler helps their brain work on math later on.

    • Nikki Gladd says:

Thanks, Lori! I never heard that tip! Maybe I’ll have a little math wiz on my hands, then. lol! 🙂
