TCHO Chocolate – “Nutty”

DSC_4733

I received more TCHO chocolate the other day. What’s that you say? How am I getting all of this FREE chocolate!? Well, it all began in the land of BlakeMakes where I became a Sooper Hero; meaning I would receive samples of new food, taste it and blog about it. This land of Blake Makes […]

Italian Tomato Cups

As promised, here is another dish from the hat decorating party last Thursday night. My friend (who co-hosted the party with me) brought this appetizer. It’s so simple, but SO delicious! The slogan, “once you pop you can’t stop,” should be used for these. Italian Tomato Cups Cut cherry tomatoes in half, scoop out middle […]

Penny Pincher: Freecycle

freecycle_logo

Okay… so this isn’t exactly food related, but it’s Penny Pinching related. I think that’s reason enough to include it on this blog. Tonight, we met for our first small group meeting for church. It was the official cook out kick off. During our cook out my friend, Stacey, mentioned that she is never going […]

“…it’s my birthday, too, yeah! We’re gonna have a good time!” I have no shame in announcing it’s my birthday today! No shame, because it means I get to, once again, share with you the deals that I got, and that YOU can also take advantage of on or around YOUR birthday. Click here to […]

My friend, Stephanie, and I hosted a hat decorating party on Thursday. We sent out invitations to some of our girlfriends to come over and decorate hats to wear to ladies day at the Arlington horse races on September 6th. Stephanie and I made a bunch of food for this party, and it was my […]

Leftover Chicken Salad Sandwich

DSC_4581

I cooked up some chicken and had some leftover for lunch the next day. So, I just whipped up a quick chicken salad sandwich by adding mayo and some spices. I served it on some leftover toasted hamburger buns. Not bad… for being so fast and cheap!

The Lovebirds

Ben and I had a photo session done because we never had engagement pictures and we didn’t really get many good photos of us at our wedding. So, some friends of ours gave us a photo session as a gift. Nancy Beale was the photographer…right out of Chicago. She and her fiance, David Wittig, do […]

Lou Mitchell’s [Chicago, IL]

IMG_3795

This weekend six girlfriends and I celebrated our friend’s 30th birthday in Chicago. We saw Jersey Boys and had dinner at Cafe Ba Ba Reeba. Later, we enjoyed the Chicago nightlife then spent the night at the Hyatt Regency on Michigan Ave. It was a terrific day, especially the weather. The Chicago Air and Water […]

Ground Turkey Casserole

DSC_4436

When my sister was in town, we bought some ground turkey. It was on sale, so we bought a few packages. I do not have much experience cooking with ground turkey, so I headed to AllRecipes to find a meal. I needed something quick and easy, and something where the ingredients were all on hand. […]

Blueberry Crumb Bars

DSC_4573

I originally saw the link to this recipe from Good Things Catered where Katie made her own alterations. She found the recipe on Smitten Kitchen, which linked to the original on AllRecipes. I used the recipe as it was listed on Smitten Kitchen and WOW these were good! We were bringing a dessert to two […]
