Hot Chocolate on a Stick (Hearts)

Hot Chocolate is a favorite drink in our house during the winter, especially on snowy days like we're having today.  We will drink all kinds of hot cocoa, from the cheap Nestle and Swiss Miss, to the gourmet Ghirardelli. We love it in all forms.

Hot Chocolate on a Stick (Hearts)

I think I have found my favorite hot chocolate option in this recipe, Hot Chocolate on a Stick.  It is such a great perk that these will keep in a sealed container for one year, and all I have to do is warm up some milk or cream, and stir in my stick.  It's a creamy, chocolaty treat...no marshmallows needed!

To celebrate Valentine's Day, I made heart shaped cocoas and will be giving them as gifts.  Just pick up this Wilton 12-cavity heart mold (hint: it's only $9.99 at Target and will probably be discounted after V-day).  The rest of the batch I made in regular ice cube trays, which also work out perfectly.  There is no need to line the mold with plastic wrap, or spray them with anything.  The chocolate easily pops out of the tray when hardened.

Hot Chocolate on a Stick

Pick up some favor bags at your local craft store and wrap the chocolate sticks individually to give them away for Valentine's Day.  They are also the perfect addition to your holiday gift basket this coming year.  It's never too late to plan ahead!

    Hi there!
I cannot seem to get to any recipes. The Giverslog is now selling chocolate on a stick so there isn't a recipe posted. I looked in the comments here and tried the link you posted last, but it takes me to a domain page and is unable to find the website.
Could you please help? I was really looking forward to making these! They look delicious and the storage time blows ne away!
    Thank you!

Hi Tabatha, I'm so sorry you're having problems finding this recipe. The original creator of this recipe contacted me years ago to remove the recipe from my site and link to her's -- and unfortunately, since then she has removed it due to selling them instead. 🙁 I haven't made these in a very long time, and I'm not sure I even have a printed recipe, myself. Kicking myself for not saving it! Maybe there is another recipe out there that is just as good. I do remember one tip, use higher quality chocolate - more fat content as well -- for best results.

I am not able to find the recipe. I searched and found the the giver's blog but she appears to now be selling chocolate on a stick so there is no recipe posted. Can you share the recipe you have. I really like the idea that you can keep this recipe for a year which means I an make ahead for holidays. Or maybe you can point out a similiar recipe. Thank you!

I made these to give as gifts but wanted to try them first. They came out ok and look nice but at best I ended up with a warm cup of milk with chocolate floating in it. The chocolate did not blend with the milk. I used Ghirardelli chocolate. What did I do wrong?

      Hi Anonymous,
I'm sorry for your frustration which caused you to leave such an abrasive comment. But, if you read the end of the post, you will see a link to the recipe over at Giver's Log blog. Please do not leave a comment on here again unless you can use kinder words and tone.
      Thank you.

Hi Myra. Amberle from Giver's Log requested that I link to her recipe instead of posting it. I made the change yesterday and just checked it now where it worked for me. I tried another update to the link, so hopefully it works for you now. I'll shoot you an email as well.

      Thanks!
      Nikki

These are adorable. They sound incredible too! It might be too late for me to get these done for Valentine's day, but I will be saving this recipe for future gifts. I love hot chocolate!

You have a typo in the chocolate-to-milk ratio at the bottom. But thanks to you, I just ate all 5 of the Hershey's kisses I had leftover from Christmas. Those pictures are killing me.
