Rudolph Peanut Butter CookiesAnd....

...here we go again with another sweet treat recipe post.  Don't shoot me for making your waistline bigger.  But, wait, aren't you really making these cookies and sweets for your friends and family as Christmas presents?  So you have nothing to worry about, right?

RIGHT...??

These cutie patootie reindeer cookies were sent right out to the dozens of kids in our neighborhood.  Okay, so not until the day after I made them, which allowed for me to eat maybe one...or five...of them before they made it out to the crowd of wee little mouths.

Judah loves sharing the cookies we make.  Even if there are only three cookies left on a plate, he will say "Judah have a cookie and share with friends?"  I.love.my.generous.kid.

Tis the season to give...and, eat cookies!

Rudolph Peanut Butter Cookies

Super fun to make with your kids, you can basically use any plain cookie recipe for the base of these adorable red-nosed reindeer. Just make sure they are fluffy and sturdy cookies to hold the antlers.
Prep Time45 mins
Cook Time10 mins
Total Time55 mins
Servings: 3 dozen cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 36 red M&M's
  • 72 mini semisweet chocolate chips
  • Twisted pretzels , broken into 72 small pieces for antlers

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone liner.
  • Cream together the shortening, peanut butter and sugars in a large mixing bowl at medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Add to the butter mixture and blend until combined. Scoop dough into 1-inch balls onto the baking sheet. Bake on center rack for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately place 1 red M&M on the center of each cookie, 2 chocolate chips as eyes, and 2 pretzel pieces as antlers. Allow to cool completely on baking sheet set on wire rack. Repeat with remaining dough and candy.
  • Best served within 2 days.

These are adorable! I've seen the reindeer cookies using nutter butters, but I'm sure they taste better with homemade pb cookies.
