Schwans Delivery

Have you ever tried meals delivered to your house by Schwan's Home Delivery?  This is something I had always been curious about.  In the neighborhood I grew up in, I remember the Schwan's truck regularly visited the house across the street.  These neighbors always ordered some of Schwan's ice cream, and I thought that was the only food that Schwan's offered.

Boy, was I ever wrong!  Schwan's offers frozen meal solutions, so on those crazy days where you are scrounging the pantry looking for something to quickly cook, you can instead turn to your freezer and make something delicious!  What a great way to ensure you're getting your family to the dinner table even on your busiest nights!

Schwans Toastwich and Breakfast Sandwich

Schwan's Home Delivery generously offered a week of family meals for us to try.  I have to say I wasn't expecting the food to be as good as it was!  Ben and I were very surprised to honestly love just about everything we ate.

Here's the break down:

We started by testing the breakfast items, TOASTWICH Bacon, Egg and Cheese and the English Muffin Breakfast Sandwiches (pictured above).  You guys!  The breakfast sandwiches were good, BUT the TOASTWICH??  Amazing!  I never thought I would say that about prepared frozen food.  Ben and I were both surprised at the buttery, crispy, flaky pastry crust and the delicious cheesy bacon and egg filling.  Hands down our favorite of the week's worth of meals.

Schwans Pizza and Lasagna Rolls

So, the TOASTWICH was our favorite, but there was so much more we also enjoyed, like the Chicken Alfredo Bianco Flatbread Thin Crust Pizza and the Lasagna Roll-ups.  We had the flabread pizza for lunch one day.  The serving size for each pizza listed on the box stated two per pizza.  I would say that it should be ⅔ of the pizza is one serving.  Ben and I ate one whole rectangle (2 servings) each, but I would've been full with ⅔ of one.

The Lasagna Roll-Ups are hand-rolled and stuffed with five cheeses - Ricotta, Romano, Mozzarella, Fontina and Parmesan!  I figured I would like this, just because of that!  But, WOW, did we every love the flavor!  There were 4 rolls included, at 6 ounces each, so 4 servings per box.  I did the micro-bake instructions where you speed up the process by first cooking in the microwave for 7 minutes then 35 minutes in the oven.  Worked perfectly as directed.  You add your own sauce, so I served mine up with a simple marinara.  Mmmmm, SO good!

Schwans Blueberry Muffins

We also really enjoyed the Six Cheese Tortellini (not pictured) and Blueberry Muffin starters.  I love that I didn't even have to use a muffin pan!

We weren't big fans of the French Toast Sticks nor the Chocolate Cake (bummer!) but that's the beauty of this home delivery service - you pick your favorites!

The ingredients are fresh and everything taste homemade.  We were so surprised by how much we loved our Schwan's Home Delivery meals and even looked forward to the days we had them!  Find out more on how you can sign up for delicious family meals delivered to your home at Schwans.com.

      Hi Shirley,
That's terrible! I'm sorry you got food that had old dates. 🙁 This is an older review and I do not work for Schwan's or have any affiliation with them, so your comment will probably never be seen by them. You should contact them through their website and let them know your concerns. Maybe there is an explanation, but I'm sure they would want to hear from you and make it right. 🙂

        Hi Nikki,
Have you quit blogging? I was really enjoying these.

Schwans brings back the best childhood memories! They used to have the best push pop ice cream things ever...and I'm pretty sure I ate at least one individual frozen pizza each time I was at my grandpas house (they ordered from schwans all the time and their freezer was always full of schwans goodies!) I don't think I've ever had anything of theirs I didn't like. And regarding the comment above... I really don't see how talking about quality frozen food on your blog adds up to you being a sell out. Apparently that person writes the invisible "foodie" rules bloggers must follow at all times so they can avoid ridiculous (and laughable) comments calling the said rule breaker foodie a sell out.

Thank you, Sarah! I love that Schwan's bring you such fond memories! 🙂 We really enjoyed eating all of it and still have a Pecan Pie in the freezer to try! Thank you for your support regarding the previous commenter. I'm glad to hear not everyone feels the way she does. xoxo

Nikki, I'm disabled & have been looking for a store that accepts EBT & delivers. I just found Schwans. I've read they can give samples to see if I like it. Is this right?

Hi Janice, I'm sorry, but I do not know the answer. I believe you would need to contact someone at Schwans through their website. That'd be great if they do! 🙂

Now schilling frozen meals? What's next? You have become a total sell out. Such a shame - used to enjoy your blog.

      Hi Jenn,
I'm sorry you feel this way. I don't even understand your comment, actually, and how you think I'm a sell-out. This is my blog, my writing space, where I have (from it's beginning almost 7 years ago) shared with you my experiences in my kitchen. Although I received free product from Schwan's to sample, I was not compensated, nor was I required to write a post about it. (And if I ever am paid to write content, it is always genuine opinions and only about products I would use. It is also stated clearly within the post.) I had such a delightful experience trying Schwan's food, and am excited to share that with anyone who reads. I'm very happy to provide reviews to my readers, and think that many find it helpful.

HI, I used Schwann's years ago and we loved it. It was so convenient to be able to have delivery and it made meal planning much easier. I was a single parent at the time and it was hard to always drag the 4 kids to the grocery store. I may have to give them another go - none of the items you've shown were available back when I used them.
