UPDATE:  This giveaway is now closed.  The winner (selected by Random.org) of the Hershey's baking package is Christi D. who said: "I am making toffee bars…chocolatey goodness!" Congratulations, Christi! Please check your email for instructions on how to claim your prize.  Thank you to all who entered.  If you didn't win this time, come back next week for two more great giveaways!

Secret Kiss Snowball Cookies

Can you believe it is December already, and the weather outside is not at all frightful?  Our fires have yet to be delightful.  And, we all have places to go, yet there is no snow?  Do we dare request, "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow?"

Actually, here in Mississippi, snow rarely happens anyway.  But, I'm pretty shocked to see Facebook status updates of many of my friends and family in the north about their 60 degree weather in December!  Good for you, my friends!  Enjoy it while you can...

Since it seems no one has any real snow quite yet, how about we enjoy them in cookie form instead?  These snowball cookies were inspired by a friend of my mother-in-law's, who served something very similar to us years ago.  She wrote down the recipe for me back then, and I recently came across it deep down in my recipe files.

This turned out to be a great way for using the chocolate kisses Hershey's sent to me along with a few other baking goodies.  And, guess what?  They want to send the same treats to one of you, to help with your holiday baking adventures.

Thanks for the goodies! Ready to bake! #hersheys #CookieHQHere's what one winner will receive:

  • Hershey’s®Cookie Headquarter Apron
  • 1 pkg. Hershey’s® Baking Melts Chocolates
  • 1 pkg. Hershey’s® Bits ‘o’ Brickle® Toffee Chips
  • 1 pkg. Hershey’s® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 pkg. Hershey’s® Kisses® Chocolates
  • 1 canister Hershey’s® Cocoa
  • 1 set of recipe cards featuring the core Hershey’s® holiday recipes

Okay, how about that to get you started baking?  And, all you need to do to enter the giveaway is leave me a comment below (attached to this post) telling me one thing you plan to bake this year for the holidays.  The winner will be chosen by a random number generator, but I still read every single one of your comments, so entertain me! 😉

Official Rules:

  • To enter the giveaway, please leave a comment attached to this post telling me one thing you plan to bake this year for the holidays. (If you are reading this through email, you must visit the blog to leave your comment.)
  • Giveaway is open to US residents only.
  • Contest closes Thursday, December 6th at 10:00PM EST.
  • Winner will be announced at the top of this post.  Winner will also be notified by email.  If a response is not received within 1 week of being notified, a new winner will be chosen.
  • This giveaway is sponsored by Hershey's.

Bake, Share, and Win!  You can also enter Hershey's Kitchens Cookie Headquarters' giveaway by pinning a photo of your HERSHEY'S baked treats for a chance to win a baking products giveaway.  Head on over to the Cookie Headquarters for more information and official rules.

Secret Kiss Snowball Cookies

Hidden chocolate kisses make these snowballs a sweet surprise.
Prep Time20 minutes mins
Cook Time10 minutes mins
Total Time30 minutes mins
Servings: 2 dozen
Author: Nikki Gladd

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter , at room temperature
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 24 Hershey's Kisses (any flavor, I prefer chocolate), unwrapped
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Cream together the butter, granulated sugar and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and cocoa powder. Gradually add to the butter mixture until combined.
  • Drop tablespoon dough balls on to a parchment lined baking sheet. Place one chocolate kiss on top of each dough ball then mold the dough around the chocolate kiss, covering completely. Bake for 8 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on wire rack. When cool, roll in powdered sugar to coat. Best served within 1-2 days.

The Hidden Kiss recipe sounds great since we all love chocolate and Hershey's Kisses! We always make the Peanut Blossom Cookies with a twist because my daughter is allergic to nuts, so we use soy butter instead of peanut butter. And we have a new favorite as of last year (we love to try a new recipe every year!) Chocolate Gingerbread Boys and Girls-YUM! We make them using ALL of our cookie cutters.

This year is not just baking for me..I'll be having some fun in the kitchen doing many things, the big two being: 1st I'll be making some chocolate "butter" cookies and using them to make sandwich cookies, some with a vanilla buttercream filling and some with a peppermint butter cream filling...then.. I'll be dipping them in chocolate, 2nd I'll be making some homemade peppermint marshmallows....maybe I'll dip some of them in chocolate as well..hmmm.. just a thought

I always make a FRESH Coconut Cake, using a real coconut. My son always has to break the coconut and help me get the coconut out of the shell. Using fresh coconut makes the best cake, with putting it between the three layers, with the icing. I will also make my favorite peanut butter fudge, using Reese's peanut butter.

I KNOW I will have to make my brownies which I exclusively ONLY use Hershey's cocoa for. I've gotten so many people addicted to those brownies that I should get a kickback from Hershey's. LOL During the holidays I make the brownie recipe pouring only half the batter into the pan and then put a layer of Andes Mints (the regular kind) OR sometimes the Mini York Peppermint patties and then pour the rest of the batter on top and bake as usual. They are SO good.

And I know this year I must make my sugar cutout cookies. I haven't made them in about three years and I miss those since they really are one of my favorite cookies.

And I need to make the pecan tassies since those are a favorite too. I could go on listing about 40 things but since you only asked for one, I'll stop and spare you. LOL

Thank you for the chance at an awesome prize package.

I will be baking a zillion cupcakes this year, per requests from friends and co-workers. I have started with some Chocolate/Peppermint cakes, but the requests rum the gambit this time. I have everything from plain Vanilla/Vanilla combo, to a hefty task of a Chocolate-Covered Cherry cupcake. I also have the "make-my-rumball-recipe-into-a-cupcake" request. 🙂 Some are daunting, some are regular easy-peasy. The one thing I never get tired of?? Making people happy through my food. Thank you!

Yes, I make the dough, roll and bake, even cut out windows and put a light inside! They look like somebody's always home! 🙂

Cool until easily handled and take out of the pan to a cooling rack. Kisses use peanut butter cookie with a Hershey's kiss.

One of my good friends has a cookie party every year. I usually find a new cookie to make each year but have not found one yet. Last year I made peanut butter, toffee, pretzel cookies and they were a hit so I may make those again if I can't find a new recipe.

My husband has been thru so much with my health (2 major spinal cord surgeries since May and 12 total in the last 7 years.) He deserves something special!!!! The one thing I will make this holiday season is my Christmas mice using Hershey's Kisses. They have become a staple in our house for the holidays. I stay up late the night before my kid's last of school before the holiday break and when they wake up they have something super cute to give their teachers. They all say the same thing "These are too cute to eat"!
