Last week I didn't find time to publish a Weekend Garnish post, so this week will cover both weeks.  🙂

This Week on Pennies on a Platter
This section highlights the recipes posted this week on Pennies on a Platter and other updates to the blog, if any.

Foil Potato Packets on the Grill - A brilliant way to avoid turning on the oven to roast potatoes, and make use of your grill this holiday weekend.

Fudgy Black Bean Brownies - I never thought I would try these and, beyond that, like them!  They were a hit with Judah and a food blogging group I shared them with last weekend.

Grilled Santa Fe Burger - We are actually making these again today, because we enjoyed them THAT much.  Paired with the perfect salsa (recipe to come soon) I really think you will love these, too!

Rich Vanilla Frozen Yogurt - Using Greek yogurt gives frozen yogurt that extra richness I've grown to love.  Top with berries to sweeten it up, and save your money from those expensive frozen yogurt shops!

Patriotic Pops - These red, white and blue popsicles are a very easy and fun option for cooling off your kids this holiday.

Red, White and Blue Skewers - Not looking to make a festive dessert?  Try these "Caprese" skewers instead.

Dug Out from the Archives

Let's dig into the archives and reconsider some of the older recipes on Pennies on a Platter that we ate this week. (Some of which I plan to re-post with new photos and better directions in the near future.)

Burger Buns - Of course, since we're cooking out a lot this weekend, I made up a batch of these burger buns to keep our supply loaded!

Guacamole - No party is complete without serving up some freshly made guacamole.

Posh Piggies - These little firecrackers can be a festive appetizer for your Fourth of July party.

Caught My Eye
I love reading other blogs and websites, and often bookmark their recipes, products or reviews. These are a few that top my list from the week.

Fresh Berry Tart - How beautiful is this tart from Blissfully Delicious?  Just looking at her photo makes me want to reach through my screen and snatch one of those berries.  I've never made a tart, but it's on my "to-do" list.  I better get on it!

My Life as a Pastor's Wife and Food Blogger
Want more insight into my life as a Pastor's wife, mom, friend, relative and food blogger? Then, read on! If not, ignore this section. 🙂 This is a place for me to write what's on my mind and journal some of the crowning moments of my week.

Last weekend was super fun for me because I had the chance to meet quite a few other LA-area food bloggers, learn about Google Analytics, plus eat a bunch of delicious food from these bloggers...all for free!  Once a month, food bloggers from the area meet together to discuss a particular topic of blogging and eat white getting to know each other better.  It's a potluck style get together at rotating homes, and this was my first time there.  I brought my Fudgy Black Bean Brownies and a Greek-style skewer appetizer.

Here are a few photos from that day:
