Our friends who live in California (Aaron and Emily) were in town visiting family for the holidays.  Each year they host a Holiday Open House, and this is our chance to see them!  This year, I was excited to meet a mutual friend of ours (and fellow Nestie), Joelen, who is a part of a cooking board I frequent called What's Cooking.  She and her husband, Louis, were very sweet and a lot of fun!

Emily's parties are always amazing.  She and her mom spent at least an entire day just baking and cooking, so you can just imagine the wonderful spread of food!  You must check out her blog, Rediscovering the Joy of Cooking.  Last year's dishes are posted, and I'm sure she'll post whatever was new this year, too.

Joelen also has a food blog, Joelen's Culinary Adventures.  This girl is amazing!!  She hosts "Meet Ups" in the Chicago area and also organizes many food blogging events, while working full time!  She treated me with a delightful bucket of cookies and bags of Bavarian Style Pecans and Red Velvet Cake Balls!  YUM!  Take a peak:

Thanks, Emily and Aaron, for such a fun party!  Also thanks to Emily's parents.  It's always a treat to spend time you all!

(Stay tuned... tomorrow I'll post a recipe for the Chocolate Biscotti's I made to bring with me to the party!)
